A Registered Nurse II (RN II) is a fully competent RN who provides nursing care in a skilled and effective manner. Utilizing appropriate decision making skills exhibits competence in the technical, interpersonal and cognitive skills required to independently and safely manage routine patient assignment. The RN II establishes a plan of care, sets goals, determines priorities, and provides care within established standards of practice. External candidates can be hired into this level with a minimum of one year of nursing experience.
Promotion to RNII is automatic after completion of one (1) year of clinical experience and a satisfactory performance appraisal at a RNI level and new hires with a minimum of one (1) year acute care experience in their specialty. Must demonstrate consistent satisfactory performance (overall rating meets expectations or above) to maintain this clinical level.
The scope of responsibility, duties and accountability at the facility department and position levels including knowledge and practice of the clinical/technical skills necessary to the position consistent with the Nurse Practice Act. Nursing job duties are to meet the Nurse Practice Act, Title 22, The Joint Commission and the Plan for Provision of Nursing Care and the Plan for Provision of Care to Patients, and other regulatory requirements.
