What are the responsibilities and job description for the High School Ministry Pastor/Director position at Cedarbrook Community Church?
The High School Pastor/Director leads the Student Ministry Team, reporting directly to the Executive Pastor. This role is responsible for all aspects of student ministry grades 9-12, with an emphasis on discipleship and outreach. They work alongside the pastoral ministry team and the operations team to implement the overall vision and purposes of Cedarbrook Community Church.
Responsibilities
- Works in coordination with the overall goals of the high/middle school ministries as it falls within Cedarbrook’s overall mission and vision
- Establishes objectives and goals for this ministry in coordination with the elders, and ministry team and initiates strategies to fulfill them
- Maintain consistent follow-up with new or disengaged students and families
- Engage with students at school events, extracurricular activities, and within the community
- Shepherd high school students through teaching, mentoring, and one-on-one discipleship
- Teaches teens from a Christocentric, and gospel centered worldview from the Bible
- Cultivates an inclusive culture of belonging that draws outsiders into the family of God
- Enlists, equips, and evaluates all volunteers needed for this ministry
- Equip parents to be the primary discipler for their teenager
- Provides encouragement and support to students and their families who are in the hospital or are in a crisis situation
- Responsible to lead students (grades 9-12) to become mature disciples of Christ through Bible study, relationship building, and personal evangelism
- Leads volunteer and staff teams – Middle School, and High School
- Retention of active students and volunteers – Middle School, and High School
- Formulates and sends out monthly parent emails for High School
- Formulates and sends out weekly leader emails
- Keeps attendance for events (including events and retreats)
- Ensures that all actions performed within the context of this job position accomplishes and furthers the mission, vision, and values of Cedarbrook Community Church
- Committed to being a member in good standing of Cedarbrook Community Church. Actively engaged in Life Groups, attending weekend worship services, giving, serving, and praying for the church body
- Adheres to the Statement of Faith as established and approved by Cedarbrook Community Church
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree recommended in addition to 5 years ministry/leadership experience.
- An understanding of student ministry Christian education within the local church
- The ability to relate to and work under direction and vision of the elders of Cedarbrook Community Church and alongside the Ministry and Operations teams
- Ability to recruit, motivate, and equip adult and student leaders, teachers, and parents
- Lives consistently with the moral qualifications of 1 Timothy 3 and Ephesians 4 & 5
- Must possess a high level of spiritual maturity.
- Must be committed to Cedarbrook’s philosophy of ministry and mission.
