Special Education Assistant - LRE Para (Middle School)

This position is a Special Education Program Assistant - 9:35AM to 3:45PM, Monday - Friday  (28.33 hours/week) 

Special Education Paraprofessional provides support to the instructional program with specific responsibility for assisting in the supervision, care, and instruction of students with special needs; assisting in implementing plans for instruction; monitoring student behavior; providing information to appropriate school personnel.

QUALIFICATIONS: 

• Minimum:
• High School graduate, AND
• Earned 60 semester credit hours from an institution of higher education, OR
• Earned an Associate’s degree or higher, OR
• Passing score on a State Board approved formal assessment (Basic Skills MTTC, ETS Parapro Assessment, or Workkeys)
• Current CPR Certification or willing to obtain CPR certificate
• CPI training or willingness to obtain training
• Evidence of skills with behavior management
• Demonstrates dependability and promptness
• Understanding, patient, warm and receptive attitude toward children
• Ability to assume responsibility for supervising students
• Ability to maintain a cooperative working relationship with students, staff, parents, and the general public with the understanding that confidentiality should be exhibited
• Ability to work outside during all seasons
