Pharmacy Technicians Are Responsible For Ensuring The Availability Of Medication And Delivering Medications To The Right Patients And Departments. Here Are Some Of Their Primary Duties And Responsibilities:
Qualifications
Education: High school graduate, GED and Pharmacy Technician degree or equivalent work experience
Work Experience: Minimum of 1 year experience as a Pharmacy Technician desirable
Cognitive Skills (Language, Math, Reasoning Ability): Knowledge of drug nomenclature and pharmacy math; ability to communicate in English, both orally and in writing, Bi-lingual preferred (Spanish)
Computer Skills: Keyboarding skills, literacy with pharmacy computer systems, IDX preferred
Other Skills: Ability to work with professional medical staff, skill to work with several unique pharmacy programs
Certificates & Licenses: National Pharmacy Technician Certification (CPhT) preferred.
Physical Demands
Frequent standing and walking, occasional long periods of sitting, moderate bending, moderate energy requirements and fine motor skills. Looking at computer screen continuously for long periods of time, hearing within normal range. Must be able to lift 20 pounds.

- Supporting pharmacological services by assembling, stocking and distributing medications
- Maintaining records by recording and filing the prescriptions and orders of Physicians
- Sorting, stocking and labeling medications and monitoring inventory
- Responding to the requests of patients and healthcare providers, answering their questions and referring various inquiries to the Pharmacist
- Complying with rules, regulations and procedures to help maintain a clean and safe pharmacy, such as by sterilizing equipment and surfaces
- Processing prescriptions electronically and ensuring all information is accurate and complete
- Generating revenues by recording, calculating and issuing charges
- Undertaking administrative tasks such as record-keeping as assigned by a Physician or facility manager from time to time
