Responsibilities
- Prepare treatment rooms with necessary instruments and materials, ensuring all equipment is sterilized and ready for procedures.
- Assist dentists during various treatments including restorations, extractions, endodontics, prosthodontics, and pediatric dentistry procedures.
- Take X-rays using digital imaging technology.
- Manage patient records accurately within Dentrix while maintaining strict adherence to HIPAA regulations to protect patient confidentiality.
- Assess patient comfort throughout procedures to ensure safety and well-being.
- Educate patients on oral health practices and post-treatment care instructions clearly and compassionately.
- Support infection control protocols by practicing aseptic techniques and maintaining a sterile environment.
- Assist with medical documentation, coding procedures appropriately for insurance claims, and managing medical records efficiently.
- Collaborate closely with the dental reception team to schedule appointments, verify insurance information, and ensure smooth clinic operations.
- Maintain knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, and current best practices in general dentistry, pediatric dentistry, endodontics, prosthodontics, and other specialties.
Requirements
- Proven experience as an Expanded Functions Dental Assistant.
- Proficiency with Dentrix and experience with documentation and records management is highly desirable.
- Strong understanding of HIPAA regulations to ensure patient privacy and data security.
- Knowledge of dental imaging techniques including X-ray procedures and 3D scanners.
- Familiarity with infection control standards and aseptic techniques essential for maintaining a safe clinical environment.
- Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with patients of all ages, especially pediatrics.
- Knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, medical terminology, and medical coding practices related to dentistry.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team that includes dental receptionists and other healthcare professionals.
