The Employment Specialist connects individuals with meaningful employment opportunities while fostering workforce development and inclusive hiring practices. The ideal candidate will have expertise in recruiting, employment laws, and the unique challenges faced by individuals with developmental disabilities. This role also includes team leadership, job development, vocational rehabilitation, and advocacy.
Responsibilities
- Assess job seekers to identify skills, interests, and employment barriers.
- Develop tailored employment plans to meet individual needs.
- Educate clients on job search strategies, resume writing, and interview preparation.
- Collaborate with employers to identify workforce needs and promote job openings.
- Facilitate training and development opportunities to enhance employability.
- Provide job coaching and mentoring to support successful job placements.
- Build and maintain relationships with local businesses for employment opportunities.
- Conduct discovery assessments to identify client strengths and career goals.
- Assist clients in accessing vocational services, funding, and opportunities.
- Complete and submit necessary documentation to state Vocational Rehabilitation (VR) agencies.
- Monitor client progress and adjust strategies as needed.
- Advocate for individuals with disabilities in the community and beyond.
- Work with agency leadership to address organizational needs.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
- Occasionally provide direct attendant care services for holistic client support.
Skills & Qualifications
