Duties
- Deliver comprehensive nursing care to women during labor, delivery, and postpartum periods, ensuring safety and comfort at all times
- Monitor fetal heart rates and maternal vital signs using advanced EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems like Epic and Cerner
- Assist with procedures such as suturing, IV infusion, catheterization, and neonatal resuscitation to support optimal outcomes
- Educate patients on childbirth processes, pain management options, breastfeeding techniques, and postpartum care practices
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including obstetricians, anesthesiologists, neonatologists, and support staff to coordinate seamless patient care
- Maintain accurate medical documentation adhering to HIPAA regulations and hospital standards
- Respond swiftly to emergencies such as obstetric complications or neonatal distress using critical care protocols
Requirements
- Valid RN (Registered Nurse) license with current certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)
- Proven experience in labor & delivery nursing within a hospital setting or Level I/II trauma center environment
- Strong knowledge of obstetric physiology, fetal monitoring techniques, and neonatal assessment procedures
- Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic or Cerner for efficient documentation and patient tracking
- Ability to perform sterile techniques including suturing and specimen collection with precision and confidence
- Excellent patient assessment skills combined with compassionate communication tailored to diverse populations
- Experience working in high-pressure situations requiring quick decision-making and effective teamwork
