Cedar Crest Lodge is an award-winning 11-room Bed & Breakfast in southeast Kansas, looking to hire an energetic, hardworking Chef who is experienced and well-rounded in cooking upscale casual cuisine as well as baking. We are a well-established 25-year old business which has been built upon great customer service and outstanding made-from-scratch food. We offer breakfast, dinner, and limited lunch service daily. We often host group events which require additional cooking/menus: Yoga, Crafting, and Business Retreats, as well as elopements and small weddings. You must be a team player, possess a high attention to detail, great organizational skills, ability to work with various dietary/food allergy needs, a positive attitude, and a flexible schedule. Pay will depend largely on experience. Looking for one full-time and one part-time position. Hourly Rate: $22-$32 Based on Experience.
Daily Tasks
- Prep and cook breakfast and dinner service using established, time-proven on-site recipes
- Execute dishes with consistency, quality, and attention to presentation
- Prepare special guest enhancements such as chocolate-covered strawberries and other amenities
- Assist with inventory of food and kitchen supplies; communicate needs for purchasing to owner
- Receive and properly store deliveries, ensuring freshness and organization
- Process and preserve farm-fresh, seasonal produce for use in menus (washing, cutting, batching, and storing)
- Maintain an organized prep schedule to support efficient service
- Perform basic kitchen cleaning duties, including dishwashing, sanitizing surfaces, and maintaining overall cleanliness
- Follow all food safety and sanitation guidelines
- Support a smooth, welcoming dining experience through timely and thoughtful food preparation
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods (7–14 hours per shift)
- Ability to lift, carry, and move items up to 40–50 pounds (food deliveries, equipment, bulk ingredients)
- Must be able to bend, stoop, kneel, and reach overhead frequently
- Ability to work in a somewhat fast-paced kitchen environment with sustained physical activity
- Must be comfortable working in varying temperatures, including hot kitchen conditions
- Ability to perform repetitive motions such as chopping, stirring, plating, and lifting cookware
- Must have strong hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity
- Ability to safely operate standard kitchen equipment
- Must be able to maintain stamina and focus throughout long shifts, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays
