Overview
PURPOSE STATEMENT:
Monitor and ensure the safety and well-being of all people in and around the facility’s swimming pool.
May 2026 - August 2026. Flexible schedule - Full time or Part time
Responsibilities
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Prevent injuries by minimizing or eliminating hazardous situations or behaviors in and around the pool.
- Recognize and respond quickly and effectively to all emergencies.
- Administer first aid and CPR, including using an AED and if trained, administer emergency oxygen when needed.
- Rescue distressed swimmers when necessary.
- Enforce the pool rules in an appropriate, fair and equitable manner and explain the rationale for the rule(s) when needed.
- Assist people as needed, but without compromising the safety of others using the facility.
- May perform various maintenance duties as directed to maintain a clean and safe pool.
- Demonstrate a positive, empathetic and professional attitude towards customers always. When patient needs are not met, acknowledge and work to resolve complaints. Recognize that patient safety is a top priority.
Qualifications
OTHER FUNCTIONS:
- Perform other functions and tasks as assigned.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- One or more years’ previous lifeguard experience required.
LICENSES/DESIGNATIONS/CERTIFICATIONS:
- Must have Lifeguard Certification from an accredited organization.
- CPR and de-escalation/restraint certification required.
- First aid may be required based on state or facility.
