Duties
- Safely operate tractor-trailers, including manual transmission trucks, across designated routes while adhering to all traffic laws and safety regulations
- Load and unload freight using appropriate equipment such as forklifts or roll-off trucks, ensuring cargo integrity and security
- Manage various types of freight, including refrigerated goods, flatbed loads, tankers, and other specialized cargo
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections to verify vehicle condition, including checking brakes, lights, tires, and load securement
- Plan efficient routes to optimize delivery schedules and minimize delays while maintaining compliance with Hours of Service regulations
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers and customers regarding delivery times, load status, and any issues encountered during transit
- Maintain accurate logs of driving hours, deliveries, inspections, and maintenance records in accordance with company policies and DOT regulations
Requirements
- Valid CDL A license with a clean driving record and recent experience operating tractor-trailers with manual/automatic transmissions (3 years minimal)
- Proven experience in truck driving, including route driving and freight delivery across diverse terrains
- Ability to load & unload freight safely using equipment such as forklifts or roll-off trucks when necessary
- Familiarity with operating refrigerated trailers, flatbeds, tankers, dump trucks, or roll-off trucks is highly desirable
- Strong knowledge of safety procedures related to commercial driving and cargo handling
- Physical ability to perform duties that may involve lifting heavy loads or working in various weather conditions
- Excellent communication skills for coordinating with dispatchers, customers, and team members
