ASSISTANT IN HUMAN RESOURCES

GENERAL PURPOSE OF POSITION

Under the direction of the Directors of Human Resources, the Assistant in Human Resources provides support, training, and direction to all employees. In addition, this position serves as a liaison to internal and external stakeholders.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF POSITION

1. Collaborates on the development and implementation of the recruitment program of employees including but not limited to preparing job descriptions, posting ads, and managing the hiring process.

2. Provides newly hired employees with an explanation of the conditions of employment, including employee benefits.

3. Determines placement of newly hired employees on the salary scales and forwards this information to the Payroll Department.

4. Assists with compliance of all mandated requirements before recommending employment, including education, training, criminal background investigations, immigration form, etc.

5. Compiles personnel data for local, state, and federal reports and research, as required.

6. Answers inquiries and correspondence related to personnel matters.

7. Assists with development of training activities for personnel.

8. Serves as the school system retirement coordinator and liaison with the Maryland State Retirement Agency.

9. Distributes communications to employees.

10. Develops technological solutions to support Human Resources/Benefits department procedures.

11. Assists with the annual budget compilation of the Human Resources/Benefits Department, including reconciliation of billing.

12. Maintains regular, on-time attendance.

13. Reacts to change productively and performs other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS OF THE POSITION

1. Has a Bachelor’s degree in human resource management, benefits administration, business administration, or related field, preferred.

2. Has human resources, benefits administration, or equivalent experience in a related field.

3. Has good interpersonal communication skills.

4. Has a willingness and capability to work beyond the normal workday.

5. Can demonstrate knowledge of good personnel practices obtained through coursework or job experience.

6. Has proficient skills with computer programs and applications, Tyler Munis ERP experience preferred.

SALARY

The salary range for the Assistant in Human Resources for the 2023-2024 year is $75,995-$89,673, depending upon creditable experience and training. An attractive fringe benefit package includes health care, term life insurance, retirement plan, and leave benefits.
