Graphic Designer/Production Artist

Copy Express/ExpressKolor is looking for an in-house Graphic Designer and Production Assistant. This person will use their graphic design skills to design for print and learn how to fully operate and maintain our UV and large format printers (don’t worry, they’re designer friendly!)

• This is a full-time position. Pay range is $19-27 an hour based on experience.
• This role is in-person at our print shop, at 6707 NE 117th Ave in Vancouver, WA.
• Our shop is open 8am to 4:30pm, and we are looking for someone to work within these hours.
• This position is a combination of computer-based work and manual labor.

Copy Express has offered local printing services since 1981. Many know us for our wide array of paper products produced digitally or on our offset and letterpress machines. However, we are entering a new era with the new ability to print stickers, labels, decals, promotional products, apparel, and more. We are looking for someone to take ownership of this side of the business and take us to the next level.

The ideal candidate will have:

• Experience as a quick-turn graphic designer. The jobs clients bring us are completed within 1-3 business days, from design, to printing and finishing. (This is a production designer role, NOT a long-form design type role.)
• Be knowledgeable with typography, layout design, and color theory.
• Ability to both match existing branding themes to create new client pieces, and create original pieces.
• Be proficient in Adobe Illustrator, with some experience in InDesign and Photoshop.
• Technical ability to learn how to operate and maintain several different printers, accompanying software, and troubleshoot when necessary.
• The ability to lift up to 40lbs.
• Organization skills to help maintain our server filing system, our CRM, as well as client communications and documents.
• Customer service skills and telephone etiquette for communicating with clients in person, over the phone and via email.
• A willingness to learn multiple aspects of the print shop: from printing, to bindery and finishing tasks, sales and marketing efforts, and bettering the client experience.
• Strong attention to detail.
• The ability to work in a warehouse environment with a small, mighty, full-of-fun team!
