GIS Technician

The GIS Technician will assist in the collection, organization, and maintenance of geospatial data to support project mapping and analysis. This role focuses on data entry, basic map production, and routine spatial analysis under close supervision. The GIS Technician supports project teams with reliable data collection and preparation for both field and office workflows. The GIS Technician will be a champion of our company core values while maintaining internal and external customer engagement and satisfaction. 

Some responsibilities include:

• Collecting, organizing, and inputting spatial and attribute data from field notes, GPS surveys, and existing databases.
• Digitizing maps and geo-referencing raster or PDF images.
• Assisting with map production, including layout design, symbology, labeling, and quality control.
• Maintaining file organization, metadata documentation, and adherence to company GIS standards.
• Supporting QA/QC by verifying spatial accuracy and consistency across datasets.
• Assisting in creating and maintaining databases and metadata records.
• Participating in drone operations as a visual observer.
• Assisting in field preparation and support for drones, cameras, GPS, and laser scanning equipment.

• Associate's degree from an accredited college in GIS, Geography, or related field
• May require occasional travel and overnight stays to various customer field sites
• Previous industry experience - preferred
