The Schenectady YMCA is seeking a dynamic individual to serve as the branch's Full-Time Wellness Coordinator! This position is supports the work of the Y, a leading charity committed to strengthening the Schenectady community. The Wellness Coordinator plans, implements, supervises, and evaluates programs and staff within the Wellness Center. Acts as a department head in the absence of the Director.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Assist in the development, implementation and evaluation of programs for the Wellness department.
- Assists in the supervision of the wellness center, including staff and facilities.
- Assists in scheduling of assigned staff.
- Provide orientation and training to newly hired staff.
- Provide program assistance to all members, and staff, including assistance with staff trainings.
- Assist with maintenance and ensuring all staff are assisting with cleaning activities.
- Regularly inventory all Wellness equipment and make recommendations for new equipment, as necessary.
- Promote the utilization and effectiveness of the Wellness Center and its equipment to all participants.
- Assist in the interviewing, hiring, and evaluation of all new wellness staff.
- Builds effective, authentic relationships with members; helps members and program participants connect with each other and the CDYMCA.
- Follows CDYMCA policies and procedures; responds to emergency situations (weather, closings, etc.).
- Maintain cleanliness of the facility as a member of Clean Team.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- BA/BS in Physical Ed., Recreation, Sports Mgt., or a related field or equivalent experience preferred.
- Two year of previous experience in the wellness field, or related field.
- Prior supervisory experience is preferred.
- Current CPR, First Aid, AED, and wellness certification (YMCA, AFAA, or ACE) required.
- YMCA Healthy Lifestyles certification within 60 days of hire
