Overnight Caregiver (CNA or Nursing Student Preferred)
Location: Alma Center, WI
Pay: $17.66/hour — Daily rate: $256 per day (8–24 hours)
Schedule: 8:00 PM – 6:00 AM, 3–4 nights per week
About the Role
We are seeking a caring, patient, and dependable Overnight Caregiver to provide hands-on, attentive assistance for a young man with significant physical care needs. The ideal candidate is compassionate, adaptable, and detail-oriented — someone who values helping others live comfortably and safely at home.
This position is an excellent opportunity for a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) or Nursing Student looking to gain meaningful experience in direct patient care.
Primary Responsibilities
Provide maximal assistance with:
- Administering medications (3x per day)
- Dressing, eating, and drinking (assisting with refilling water bottle with extended straw as needed)
- Sponge bathing and personal hygiene
- Transfers to and from a manual wheelchair (using a Hoyer lift)
- Repositioning every 2–4 hours to prevent pressure injuries
- Straight catheterization (6x per day: every 4 hours during the day, every 6 hours overnight)
- Nightly bowel program, including transfer to bowel chair (currently performed in bed)
- Monitoring for autonomic dysreflexia (e.g., headache) and responding appropriately
- Monitoring skin integrity (checking twice daily for redness or irritation from braces, shoes, or clothing)
- Providing comfort and companionship — he enjoys movies, music, and spending time on his phone
Qualifications
- Experience providing physical cares, transfers, and mobility assistance required
- Experience with catheterization, bowel programs, and Hoyer lifts preferred
- Compassionate, patient, and reliable
- Ability to adapt to changing needs and maintain attention to detail
- Driver’s license
