JOB SUMMARY:
At the highest level, must have an enthusiastic, entrepreneurial, and committed effort to performing their job in an ethical and proper manner. The TCI-II is responsible for consulting with contractors, consultants, engineers, job superintendents, and others in matters related to plans, specifications, materials, equipment, and the methods, practices and safety precautions involved in construction and installation of the work. This role will prepare daily progress reports and maintains progress schedules; checks shop drawings and contractors' quotations for variations; keeps records of quantities and cost of materials used; prepares contractors' periodic progress payment claims and recommends payment.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Ensure compliance with the contract documents by the contractor.
- Prepare inspection reports and other documentation, make field measurements and properly document quantities for pay in accordance with contract plans, procedures, and policies.
- Ensure compliance with the contractor’s health and safety plan.
- Check that delivered materials conform to the contract documents.
- Check contractor’s layout and verify accuracy.
- Prepare and submit daily reports of work performed in accordance with CDR Maguire’s and Owner’s requirements.
- React to hazardous warnings and signals.
OTHER PRINCIPAL DUTIES:
- Other duties that may arise from time-to-time and/or are commensurate with the title and position.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SPECIAL SKILLS REQUIRED:
- High school diploma, GED, or post-secondary education and can read, write, and communicate in English and do basic math computations for length, area, and volume.
- Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering preferred.
- One year minimum PennDot experience as a Transportation Construction Inspector I or higher.
- Three years of experience in transportation, highway, or bridge construction experience.
- NICET Level 2 or higher in Transportation/Highway Construction.
- NECEPT Bituminous field certification preferred.
- ACI/PennDOT Concrete field technician certification.
- PennDOT/PTC CDS certification preferred.
- ECMS experience preferred.
- OSHA 10-Hour certification preferred.
- Effective oral and written communication.
- Ability to bend, stretch, kneel, sit, and stand.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
- Provide a positive attitude to establish competence and pride in the company.
- Follow and convey instructions.
- Utilize computers and common office equipment.
- Wear required personal protective gear/equipment.
- Infrequently perform manual labor.
- Infrequently work in adverse weather conditions.
- Limited exposure to chemicals.
- Travel as required and as it relates to above duties or as directed by supervisor.
