What are the responsibilities and job description for the Sr. Manager, Supply Chain position at CDM Technology?
Sr. Manager, Supply Chain
Carlsbad, CA | Full-Time
About the Role
We’re looking for a senior-level supply chain professional who can actually do the work, not just talk about it. This is a hands-on role where you’ll own the full supply chain function end-to-end—procurement, planning, logistics, inventory, supplier management—the whole thing.
This isn’t a “manage a team and delegate” type of job. There is no large team underneath you. You’ll be the one driving it, building it, fixing it, and keeping it moving.
You’ll be working in a fast-moving hardware environment tied to complex builds, custom engineering, and tight timelines. Priorities will shift. You’ll need to adjust quickly, stay organized, and keep everything on track without a lot of structure around you.
What You’ll Be Responsible For
Owning the Supply Chain (End-to-End)
- Run procurement, planning, logistics, and inventory without relying on a large support team
- Make sure parts and materials are where they need to be, when they need to be there
- Keep costs in check while maintaining quality and timelines
Supplier Management & Sourcing
- Build and manage a reliable supplier base across multiple component categories
- Negotiate pricing, terms, and performance expectations
- Stay on top of supplier performance—no surprises, no excuses
Production Support & Planning
- Work closely with engineering and manufacturing to align materials with build schedules
- Manage forecasting, planning, and inventory levels to avoid shortages or overages
- Stay on top of custom/engineering-driven projects and make sure supply keeps up
Logistics & Execution
- Handle inbound/outbound logistics, shipping, and overall material flow
- Keep things efficient, compliant, and on schedule
Improvement & Problem Solving
- Identify gaps, bottlenecks, and risks—and fix them
- Track key metrics around cost, delivery, and inventory
- Bring structure and better tools/processes where needed
What We’re Looking For
- Strong, practical experience across procurement, planning, logistics, and inventory
- Someone who has operated in a fast-paced, build-heavy environment (automotive, EV, or similar helps)
- Comfortable managing a high volume of moving pieces at once
- Clear communicator who can work across teams and push things forward
- Self-starter—no hand-holding, no waiting around for direction
Important to Understand
This is an individual contributor role.
You’re expected to personally execute across the full scope of supply chain. If you’re looking to sit at a high level and delegate, this isn’t that job. If you like owning things end-to-end and being in the middle of the action, it’s a strong fit.
Background
- ~7 years in supply chain, with some level of leadership responsibility
- Experience in automotive, EV, or complex manufacturing environments is a big plus
- Degree in Supply Chain, Engineering, Business, or similar (nice to have, not everything)
Salary : $140,000 - $180,000
