What are the responsibilities and job description for the Staff Accountant position at CDM Synergies?
The ideal candidate will be responsible for achieving accurate and timely day-to-day accounting tasks through to year-end closings. This role works independently at the local level while collaborating closely with the corporate accounting team located in Kalamazoo, Michigan. This position requires organization, attention to detail, and the ability to handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment while reporting directly to the President.
Responsibilities
- Promote excellence throughout the department.
- Prepare and post journal entries, reconcile general ledger accounts and ensure accuracy of financial data.
- Assist in preparing accurate and timely financial statements and reports.
- Perform month-end, quarter-end and year-end close activities i.e. accruals, analysis, commissions, fixed assets, reporting, and account reconciliations.
- Monitor daily banking activity, perform bank reconciliations and wire transfers, and assist with cash flow tracking and reporting.
- Assist with cost accounting functions, including tracking and analyzing production or project costs, inventory valuation, and margin analysis.
- Prepare and submit required government and regulatory filings i.e. sales tax, property tax, Canadian tax returns, statistical or compliance reporting.
- Assist with annual physical inventory counts, reconciliation, and variance analysis.
- Support and assist with annual financial audit, documentation, and respond to auditor requests.
- Assist with accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll processes as needed.
- Ensure compliance with company accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls.
- Contribute to process improvement initiatives to increase efficiency and accuracy in accounting operations.
Qualifications
- Dedication to excellence and quality output.
- BBA or BS with a major in accounting and five years’ experience working in accounting along with three years' experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Comprehensive knowledge of financial, cost accounting, and reporting.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office programs.
- Experience with MiSys, Sage and QuickBooks a plus.
- Effective written and oral communication skills for collaboration.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
Salary : $70,000 - $90,000
