Duties
- Safely operate tractor-trailers with manual transmissions across designated routes, adhering to all traffic laws and safety regulations
- Load and unload freight using appropriate equipment such as forklifts or roll-off trucks when necessary
- Deliver goods to customers efficiently while maintaining excellent customer service standards
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of trucks to ensure vehicle safety and compliance with DOT regulations
- Manage route driving schedules, ensuring timely pickups and deliveries of refrigerated, flatbed, tanker, or freight shipments
- Secure loads properly for transport and verify cargo against shipping documentation before departure and upon arrival
- Communicate effectively with dispatch teams regarding delivery statuses, delays, or issues encountered on the road
- Maintain accurate logs of driving hours, mileage, and freight details in compliance with federal regulations
Experience
- Proven experience as a commercial driver with a valid CDL Class A license
- Demonstrated ability to operate manual transmission trucks safely and efficiently
- Prior delivery driver experience handling freight such as refrigerated goods, flatbed loads, tankers, or dump trucks preferred
- Familiarity with load & unload procedures using forklifts or other equipment is a plus
- Knowledge of route planning and driving regulations for tractor-trailers across different regions
- Experience with freight handling including roll-off trucks and trailer securing techniques is advantageous
- Ability to perform basic vehicle maintenance checks and troubleshoot minor issues on the road
