Procurement & Planning Manager

Job description – Lead the supply chain management (planning and procurement) for CDF’s Flexible Packaging, Drum and Pail and Baltimore Divisions. Drive continuous improvement in the supply chain with a primary focus on customer satisfaction, inventory turns improvement, total cost reduction and relationship management. This position is responsible for all aspects of material procurement, inventory management and shop floor scheduling. You will be the catalyst for systems improvement, standardizing processes and leveraging technology to drive continuous improvement throughout our supply chain management.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities

  • Build, develop and lead a committed team of Buyer/Planners to manage all aspects of these responsibilities
  • Build and maintain a stable supply base that is predictable and responsive through development of disciplined processes
  • Manage activities involving tactical or strategic material purchasing, material planning and shop floor scheduling
  • Analyze inventories to determine how to increase turns and improve material availability to fulfill the shop floor schedules
  • Manage strategic purchasing function through vendor selection and negotiations with suppliers, distributors, and logistics providers
  • Leverage and negotiate favorable pricing and service with suppliers through long-term purchasing agreements where appropriate
  • Work with suppliers to reduce lead times and deliver in smaller and more frequent lot sizes while not at the expense of increased cost
  • Develop seamless communications with suppliers while providing them with predictable demand, providing appropriate lead times, to minimize disruption to our shop floor schedules
  • Provide process, guidance/coaching, and oversight to support each divisions material planning needs and change requests as they arise
  • Establish and drive KPI improvement for purchasing, inventory management and shop floor schedule fulfillment
  • Maintain planning factors with a focus on reasonable efficiency inputs
  • Create and/or maintain capacity tools to ensure capacity planning results are reasonable and meaningful to support our various needs
  • Create and manage the required processes to assure we are meeting on-time delivery
  • Work with other functional areas to develop standardized processes for negotiation and procurement of goods and services

Requirements

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and negotiating skills with a track record of positive working relationships with supplier base
  • Strong supervisory and leadership skills
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
  • High level of ERP expertise

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in business or related field
  • 5 years’ experience as a manager in a similar relevant position
