VP Technical Operations, Site Head - Boston
CDC Global Solutions are proud to be working on a retained basis with a fast-growing startup biotech helping early-stage life science innovators take advanced therapies from bench to clinic.
Reporting directly to the Chief Business Officer, you will take full ownership of the GMP manufacturing facility, spanning Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Procurement, and Facilities & Engineering. This is a true site leadership position with real operational authority and the opportunity to build something.
Responsibilities
- Oversee manufacturing operations, facilities and engineering, production planning, inventory control, and logistics for the GMP manufacturing site.
- Lead and develop the Manufacturing, Facilities & Engineering, Supply Chain, and Procurement organisations as direct reports; recruit and develop top talent and build a strong leadership bench.
- Own the operating and capital expense budgets for the site, exercising approval authority within a defined delegation-of-authority framework.
- Establish nimble technology transfer and manufacturing capabilities capable of supporting drug substance and drug product for diverse modalities, including cell therapy, gene therapy, mRNA, and extracellular vesicles.
- Ensure GMP operational readiness and right-first-time execution.
- Provide strategic planning and execution oversight of site capital projects.
- Establish business continuity plans and conduct continuity exercises.
- Develop processes to enhance efficiency and drive continuous improvement.
- Collaborate with colleagues in Business Development, Process & Analytical Development, Quality, and Program Management for successful workflows and to maximise efficiencies.
Qualifications
- BS in a relevant discipline, with a minimum of 15 years of management experience.
- Demonstrated leadership and a proven track record in GMP manufacturing of biopharmaceuticals.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to lead, influence, and resolve conflict among individuals from various cultures and disciplines.
- A strategic thinker with strong result-orientation and a sense of urgency to deliver quality results on time and in a highly ethical and professional manner.
- Track record of developing strong working relationships with executives and leading via influence.
- Track record of delivering results, having a bias for action, and translating strategy to implementation.
