Position Title: Program Coordinator

Location: Austin, Texas (Hybrid)

Position End Date: 9/29/2026

Salary: $70,000, Plus Benefits

 


Overview:

The CDC Foundation is working with CDC and state and local authorities to provide surge staff to support surveillance, prevention and response activities within the Overdose Data to Action (OD2A) program. The CDC Foundation seeks candidates for a Program Coordinator. The Program Coordinator will coordinate the day-to-day operations of the associated program. The Program Coordinator will assist with meeting all requirements of the program and increasing access to and participation in the program.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in public health, the social sciences, or a related field

• Minimum of 2 years’ related work experience

• Demonstrated knowledge in overdose prevention, substance use disorder treatment, community-based overdose prevention, recovery, and/or drug policy • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

• Excellent organization and project management skills, managing multiple projects simultaneously with competing timelines

• Demonstrated ability to work well independently and within teams

• Experience working in a virtual environment with remote partners and teams

• Displays strong leadership, management and interpersonal skills

• Demonstrated engagement in networking and strategic partnerships

• Ability to work effectively with diverse partners and stakeholders

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Teams and Zoom

 

Responsibilities:

• Schedule program-related work, oversee daily operations, coordinate program activities and set program priorities

• Complete all documentation required by funder(s)

• Ensure compliance with program regulations

• Assist with stakeholder management, marketing initiatives, and data collection and improvement efforts.

• Build sustainability of program(s)

• Provide technical assistance and training to stakeholders interested in developing Overdose Fatality Review (OFR), spike alert programming, naloxone leave behind programs, and developing Public Health and Safety (PHAST) Toolkits

• Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including the Overdose Response Strategy (ORS) teams in Texas. • Identify areas for collaboration and expansion on programming with the ORS teams.

• Gather and disseminate information on program-related research and training opportunities

• Develop specialized knowledge of community-based overdose prevention, surveillance and response

• Develop and implement program monitoring and reporting tools

• Work independently and within teams, including developing self-directed projects and communicating those project timelines, plans, and outcomes with leadership and relevant stakeholders.

• Experience working in a virtual environment with remote partners and teams

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Teams and Zoom

This role is involved in a dynamic public health program. As such, roles and responsibilities are subject to change as situations evolve. Roles and responsibilities listed above may be expanded upon or updated to match priorities and needs, once written approval is received by both the CDC Foundation and the Texas Department of State Health Services in order to best support Texas in their public health programming.
