The CDC Foundation is seeking a Deputy/ COVID CFO who will oversee the Division of Public and Behavioral Health's (DPBH or Division) COVID Fiscal Unit. The COVID Fiscal Unit provides oversight and management of all COVID-related funding streams within the Division. This candidate will work under the administrative direction of the Chief Financial Officer to plan, organize, direct, and manage the highly complex and multi-disciplinary activities of the Division.
The ideal candidate will possess the ability to provide professional assistance to the Chief in assigned areas, supporting the Chief in the preparation and execution of the division’s long- and short-range plans, objectives, policies, and procedures. Additionally, this candidate will develop and interpret policy and provides staff direction on implementation of policies and procedures.
This position will report directly to the Deputy Administrator over Administrative Services at the Division.
This position is located in Carson City and will be working part time in the office part time telecommuting for the foreseeable future.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Business/Public Administration or related field and
- Eight (8) years progressively responsible experience in the multiple disciplines within Finance, with
- Five (5) of the eight (8) years in management-level positions; or any combination of experience and training which enables one to perform the essential job functions.
- Master’s degree in a related field or license preferred
- Knowledge of applicable laws, codes, ordinances, and regulations governing debt management and investments and the related certifications preferred
Responsibilities:
- Prepare and deliver regular written and verbal reports to Division and Department leadership, the Governor's Finance Office, and the legislature
- Provide supervision and direction to staff within the unit and ensure timely and accurate preparation of documents and requests, tracking at funds received, allocated, and expended, and reconcile each funded project to ensure no duplication of efforts or funded projects
- Review technical reports, budget estimates, and contracts as needed
- Coordinate division activities with other departments and agencies as needed
- Attend public meetings and represents the Unit’s Finance activities; attend various professional association meetings
- Create and prepare a variety of correspondence, memoranda, and reports by utilizing various computer applications
- Monitor revenues and expenditures in assigned areas to ensure sound fiscal controls are met

- This role is involved in a dynamic public health program. As such, roles and responsibilities are subject to change as situations evolve. Roles and responsibilities listed above may be expanded upon or updated to match priorities and needs, once written approval is received by both the CDC Foundation and Nevada Department of Health and Human Services, in order to best support the State of Nevada in their public health programming.
