CD&H, Inc. is seeking a hardworking and reliable Hydrovac Excavation Laborer to join our field operations team. This position supports the Hydrovac Operator with day-to-day excavation tasks using high-pressure water and vacuum systems to safely locate underground utilities. The ideal candidate is safety-focused, able to perform physical labor in all weather conditions, and willing to learn and grow within the company.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist Hydrovac Operator with all aspects of hydrovac excavation.
- Handle and operate high-pressure water hoses and vacuum hoses to expose underground utilities safely.
- Set up, monitor, and break down hydrovac equipment at job sites.
- Keep the hydrovac truck clean, organized, and properly maintained (basic daily checks, cleaning debris tank, greasing, fluids, etc.).
- Assist with dumping and disposal of debris at approved locations.
- Follow safe digging practices and all site-specific safety requirements.
- Perform general labor duties such as shoveling, trenching, site cleanup, and assisting crews with concrete, pipe installation, and equipment operation.
- Support craft workers, such as carpenters, operators, mechanics, and drivers.
- Operate and maintain tools, pumps, generators, and power equipment as needed.
- Work safely in confined or hazardous environments when required.
Required:
- Ability to perform physically demanding labor (lifting up to 60 lbs., bending, climbing, kneeling, etc.).
- Ability to work in all weather conditions.
- Strong work ethic and willingness to learn.
- Ability to follow instructions and work as part of a team.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Previous experience with hydrovac, construction, utility work, or heavy equipment.
- Class A or B CDL (or willingness to obtain).
- Mechanical aptitude.
- Outdoor work in various weather conditions.
- Must wear required PPE: hard hat, eye protection, and hearing protection.
- Work may include confined spaces or hazardous areas with proper training and equipment.
