Corrections Education Program Specialist - Temporary Position
The Corrections Post-Secondary Education Initiative (CPSEI) is a federally funded program working to provide educational opportunities to incarcerated Vermonters and the staff at the Department of Corrections.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Provide administrative and operational support to the CCV Corrections Education Team:
- Assist in management of the CCV Corrections Education email inbox.
- Print, compile, and circulate teaching and learning materials to faculty and students.
- Assist with special projects such as semester activities, workshops, fairs, dinners, or other administrative tasks.
- Use a wide variety of software to enter/retrieve data and run reports.
- Provide customer service to students, faculty, staff, and community members.
- Confer with supervisor to discuss work processes, actions to be taken, resolve issues, and receive guidance.
- Other duties as assigned.
Provide guidance and insight for CCV Corrections Education Program Development:
- Support the development of CCV Corrections Education reentry services.
- Research workforce barriers connected to CCV Certificates and Associates degrees.
- Provide critical feedback and input as a member of Corrections to Careers.
- Participate in events, trainings and other related work with the community and advocacy audiences.
- Support peer mentor program for justice impacted students.
- Assist in the development of trainings for faculty to prepare them for teaching inside of facilities.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED
Supervision received from the CCV Director of Corrections Education. The Senior Staff Assistant may oversee time entry. Functional supervision includes face-to-face and digital communication to:
- Explore strengths and apply these skills in the CCV Corrections Education Program.
- Explore and design a professional development plan.
- Support professional skill development.
- Provide relevant training and support specific to the Department of Corrections and CPSEI/Corrections Education.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Currently or recently enrolled as a CCV student; inter/multidisciplinary content expertise; interest in teaching & learning.
Essential skills, knowledge, and abilities for the position include:
- Basic knowledge and demonstrated use of college-level writing and study skills;
- Aptitude to work independently and as part of a team;
- Comfort supporting students with diverse learning styles and abilities;
- Passion to motivate and inspire students challenged by school;
COMPENSATION: $16.50 per hour (unless noted otherwise on contract)
