JOB SUMMARY:

Coordinators of Teaching and Learning (CTLs) recruit, hire, supervise, and evaluate part-time faculty and offer support and professional development to continually improve teaching and learning in the CCV classroom. Working closely with associate academic deans and related staff, they are responsible for planning and delivering academic courses, programs, and workforce education to meet the needs of students and employers in their regions. CTLs work closely with Coordinators of Student Advising in their programmatic areas to develop strategic relationships and partnerships with employers, advisory boards, and professional organizations in their discipline areas.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • In conjunction with coordinators of student advising and associate academic deans, plan annual course offerings to ensure student progress on degree and credential pathways
  • Actively cultivate strategic relationships with employers, high schools, technical centers, advisory boards and other professional organizations in the discipline area to help meet program enrollment targets
  • Identify, facilitate, and support delivery of innovative and flexible course and program delivery options.
  • Participate in planning and assessment processes that will result in NECHE compliance relative to institutional effectiveness standards
  • Recruit, hire, evaluate, and supervise part-time faculty within a given discipline area to deliver traditional credit courses, concurrent enrollment, and workforce education offerings in a variety of settings
  • Provide faculty support and professional development to improve instructional practices, student engagement, and student learning outcomes
  • Ensure evaluation of teaching and learning in terms of quality, content, consistency, and outcome
  • Promote the value and use of instructional technologies among faculty; demonstrate and help faculty with instructional software
  • Provide front-line intervention and faculty support in situations that require immediate or special action
  • Apply and implement relevant terms and provisions of the faculty union agreement
  • Ensure faculty understanding of and compliance with College and VSCS policies and procedures
  • Participate in professional development activities to enhance effectiveness of faculty supervision, curriculum development, and program outcome assessment
  • Other duties as assigned

Supervisory Responsibility:  Supervise part-time faculty within a given discipline area

Minimum qualifications (Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities)

Education and Experience: Master's degree and 3 -5 years professional experience in education, student services, counseling, or a related professional field.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to work in and foster a highly collaborative and student-centered environment
  • Expert communication skills, with excellent interpersonal and discretionary communication skills and a commitment to working effectively and cooperatively with diverse constituents
  • Effective listening and analytical skills to assess needs and develop successful solutions to complex problems
  • Knowledge of higher education policies and procedures, including familiarity with student development theory
  • Demonstrated skill in planning and prioritizing work activities, attending to details, managing multiple projects, and meeting deadlines
  • Strong technological proficiency
  • Knowledge and application of instructional design principles across various course formats
  • Ability to work under conditions of high volume during peak periods
  • Demonstrated sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic background of college staff, faculty and students

Physical Requirements: Duties performed causes light fatigue of eyes, fingers, or other faculties as a result of repetitive motion and/or long periods of standing or sitting. Duties require little physical effort in work with light to moderate (up to 25lbs) easy-to-handle materials.

Working Conditions: Job is performed in general office or comparable working area with many and frequent distractions such as noise and interruptions. Work schedule may vary during high volume periods.

Typically, this position is scheduled for 40 hours weekly. The budgeted wage for this position is $57,252 annually.
