POSITION SUMMARY |
|
The role of a Behavior Interventionist involves supporting the school's behavior intervention program. This includes using proven strategies to help individual students and small groups, and keeping track of their progress. The goal is to create a well-organized and effective learning environment where elementary students can fully benefit from their lessons and available resources. A Behavior Interventionist may work in classrooms, with small groups, one-on-one with students, or in other settings, depending on the needs of the school, students, and teachers. |

Required to perform multiple tasks with a need to occasionally upgrade skills in order to meet changing job conditions. Specific skill based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: adhering to safety practices and procedures; applying assessment instruments; applying physical restraint practices; planning and managing projects; promoting activities and/or events; operating standard office equipment and office technology.
Required to perform basic math, including calculations using fractions, percentages, and/or ratios; read technical information, compose a variety of documents, and/or facilitate group discussions; and analyze situations to define issues and draw conclusions. Specific knowledge based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: age appropriate activities/behaviors; assessment instruments and techniques; cultural differences of student population; knowledge of community resources; methods of instruction and training; school safety and security practices; stages of child development; treatment modalities; classroom instructional media and technology; current and emerging technology; keyboarding; office equipment and technology.
Required to schedule a number of activities, meetings, and/or events; gather and/or collate data; and use job-related equipment. Flexibility is required to work with others in a variety of circumstances; work with data utilizing specific, defined processes; and operate equipment using defined methods. Ability is also required to work with a wide diversity of individuals; work with specific, job-related data; and utilize specific, job-related equipment. Some problem solving may be required to identify issues and select action plans. Problem solving with data may require independent interpretation; and problem solving with equipment is limited. Specific ability based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: adapting to changing work priorities; communicating with persons of diverse backgrounds; dealing with frequent interruptions; maintaining confidentiality; meeting deadlines and schedules; organizing tasks; setting priorities; working as part of a team. |
