Job Title: Mobile App Developer
Location: Helena, MT 59601– Hybrid (Once a week onsite)
Duration: 12 months
Additional Information:
• Contractor may work full-time onsite or follow a hybrid schedule with 1 day per week onsite. The required onsite day will be set by the agency within standard business hours.
Project Scope:
• The agency manages over 70 internally developed Java-based applications for public-facing and internal use. There is a backlog of production support tasks and enhancement requests, along with a queue of new project initiatives. A core business system developed in the late 1990s is undergoing incremental modernization and tracks all license sales and revenue. Developers are responsible for ensuring the system remains functional until it is replaced.
• The agency also has a mobile app that allows users to view their licenses and permits, validate certain tags digitally, and access data through an API connection to the core licensing system.
• Application owners prioritize enhancement requests, while leadership aligns new projects with the agency’s strategic plan. Work performed under this project will support expansion of the mobile app’s functionality.
• The objective of this engagement is to improve efficiency, data integrity, and app functionality to enhance user experience and support ongoing program management.
Responsibilities:
• Comfortable working with a team using Agile Development Methodology.
Mandatory Skills:
- Strong mobile application development experience with React Native for iOS and Android.
- Experience using local storage for offline mobile app operations.
- Familiarity with Java and object-oriented programming principles.
- Experience consuming and producing JSON REST services.
