PRESCHOOL TEACHER (Wasilla Head Start) – To create a successful environment that will
promote the growth and development of preschool children and families. Maintain contact with
families, and work with all other program components (health, nutrition, family services, & mental
health) to integrate educational goals and developmentally appropriate practices into the family
setting.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Associate Degree in a Job Related Field (or equivalent) Required
Knowledge of Human Development, Family Dynamics, and the Needs of Young Children –
generally gained through at least three years of experience working with preschoolers (ages 3-5),
preferably in a center-based classroom environment
Ability to Adapt Curriculum to Meet the Needs of All Children Including at Risk, Special Needs,
and Culturally Diverse Populations
Excellent Communication Skills, Especially Good Listening Skills
Timely, Competent Record Keeping Ability and Good Organizational Skills
Ability to lift and carry 50 pounds
Valid Driver's License, current auto insurance and a good driving record
EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS:
Pre-hire: Fingerprinting/Background Check
Health Report
Post-hire: Annual Physical/Health History
CPR and First Aid Certification
Food Worker Card
Proof of current Driver’s License and auto insurance
GENERAL INFORMATION:
Location: Wasilla Head Start
Supervisor: Center Coordinator
Schedule: Full-time (40 hrs/wk), part-year (46 weeks)
Salary: $20.88 – $34.51 per hour DOE and education.
Plus benefits: Medical, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance, professional
