SUMMARY:
The Personal Care Assistant (PCA) position is a field employee position providing one-to-one and small group support to students with special needs.
- Generous hourly starting pay rate of $22 per hour and progresses to $26.50 per hour (w2 employment)
CURRENT NEEDS:
- Elementary School: 8:30am - 4pm
- Middle School: Autistic Support Classroom, 7:40am - 3:10pm

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Deliver tailored one-on-one and small group support to students with special needs helping them participate in classroom activities, manage behavioral interventions, manage personal care, and access to educational environment as it aligns with the student's Individualized Educational Plan (IEP).
- Implement timely interventions focusing on behavior management, conflict resolution, anger management, and enhancing peer interaction skills, according to the goals outlined in the IEP or positive behavioral support plan set by Special Education team.
- Gather daily data and maintain progress notes in the designated format for each session with the child or adolescent.
- Offer direct assistance to students to fulfill their academic, social, emotional, and/or personal care requirements.
EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:
- Minimum High School Diploma OR equivalency
- If less than 60 college credits, must pass DE ParaPro Assessment
- Experience working with school aged children - preferred
- Experience with autism and / or other special needs - preferred
CREDENTIALING REQUIREMENTS:

- Delaware Child Protection Request Form (CPR)
- Criminal History Background Check
- TB Screening
- Education Documentation - Diploma OR Official Transcript
