Position Summary
Jellico Elementary is seeking an enthusiastic, dedicated, and positive individual to serve as Cheer Coach. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing a cheer program that promotes school spirit, teamwork, leadership, sportsmanship, and student-athlete success both on and off the sidelines.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Organize and supervise all aspects of the school's cheer program.
- Plan and conduct practices that emphasize skill development, safety, teamwork, and character.
- Prepare the squad to perform at athletic events, pep rallies, competitions (if applicable), and other school-sponsored activities.
- Foster a positive, inclusive, and respectful team culture.
- Ensure the safety and well-being of all student-athletes by following established safety guidelines and best practices.
- Communicate effectively with students, parents, school administration, and athletic staff.
- Maintain accurate records, including attendance, eligibility, and required documentation.
- Enforce school, district, and athletic association policies and procedures.
- Serve as a positive role model by demonstrating professionalism, integrity, and good sportsmanship.
- Coordinate fundraising activities and team events in accordance with district policies, when applicable.
- Maintain and inventory uniforms, equipment, and supplies.
- Perform other duties related to the cheer program as assigned by the Principal or Athletic Director.
Qualifications
- High school diploma required; bachelor's degree preferred.
- Previous cheerleading, coaching, or related experience preferred.
- Knowledge of cheerleading techniques, stunting safety, and current rules and regulations.
- Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with students, staff, parents, and community members.
- Current CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
- Must meet all district employment requirements, including background check and required training.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience coaching school cheerleading.
- Knowledge of competition cheer rules and choreography.
- Experience mentoring student leaders and building team culture.
Compensation
Compensation is based on the Campbell County Board of Education supplemental salary schedule.
