Location: Kingsport, TN

Schedule: Full Time, 100% Onsite

Hours: 50 hours per week

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Safety Officer to support a long term industrial project in Kingsport, Tennessee. This position will be responsible for maintaining a safe work environment, conducting field inspections, identifying hazards, and ensuring employees and contractors follow established safety procedures.

The ideal candidate will have strong industrial safety experience and a solid understanding of confined space entry and other high risk work activities.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct daily site safety inspections and field observations

• Identify hazards and ensure corrective actions are addressed

• Ensure employees and contractors comply with OSHA and site safety requirements

• Conduct safety orientations, toolbox talks, and safety meetings

• Support and oversee confined space entry activities, including permits, atmospheric testing, PPE, entry procedures, and safety controls

• Monitor confined space work and ensure proper entry, communication, and emergency procedures are followed

• Review JHAs/JSAs and assess hazards associated with confined space, hot work, lockout/tagout, and other high risk activities

• Assist with incident and near miss investigations

• Maintain safety documentation, inspection reports, permits, and corrective action records

• Work closely with project management, supervisors, contractors, and field personnel to address safety concerns

• Promote a proactive safety culture across the project

Qualifications

• Previous Safety Officer, Safety Specialist, EHS, Site Safety, or similar experience

• Industrial, construction, manufacturing, chemical, energy, or similar industry experience

• Strong knowledge and hands on experience with confined space entry procedures, permitting, atmospheric monitoring, and required safety controls

• Knowledge of OSHA requirements and general industrial safety practices

• Experience conducting field inspections, hazard assessments, and incident investigations

• Experience with JHA/JSA development and high risk work activities

• Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively with contractors and field personnel

• Comfortable working 50 hours per week

• Ability to work 100% onsite in Kingsport, TN

Schedule & Work Environment

This is a long term contract position requiring full time onsite work in Kingsport, TN. The position will require 50 hours per week and significant time in the field within an active industrial environment.
