The I&E Designer is responsible for supporting the development of detailed design packages for instrumentation and electrical systems in industrial and oil & gas facilities. This position is based in the Hilcorp Anchorage office and will report directly to the Hilcorp Manager. The I&E Designer works closely with engineering, operations, and maintenance teams to ensure designs meet safety, regulatory, and operational requirements. This role will support Process Hazard Analysis (PHA) efforts and assist in incorporating corrosion circuit considerations into design deliverables.

Essential Duties & Job Functions:

  • Assist in the preparation and revision of I&E design drawings, including loop diagrams, wiring diagrams, instrument location plans, and cable schedules
  • Participating in PHA reviews by supporting node identification and incorporating instrumentation safeguards into design documents
  • Support instrumentation design efforts for pressure, temperature, level, and flow measurement devices
  • Assist with aligning design documents to corrosion circuit requirements, including tagging and access for inspection points
  • Update and maintain redlines, as-builts, and project documentation
  • Coordinate with engineers, designers, and operations personnel to support project execution
  • Adhere to the company's values – integrity, ownership, urgency, alignment and innovation.

  • Adhere to established work schedule, attendance standards and is punctual to work and meetings.
  • Maintain employee confidence and protect company assets, including intellectual property, by keeping information confidential.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Basic understanding of instrumentation and electrical systems in an industrial environment
  • Ability to read and interpret P&IDs, wiring diagrams, and engineering drawings
  • Familiarity with or willingness to learn PHA processes and corrosion circuit concepts
  • Proficiency or exposure to AutoCAD or similar drafting software
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work both independently and in a team environment
Requirements:

Required Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Valid driver license
  • 0–2 years of relevant experience or internship experience in oil & gas, industrial, or related field Work Environment:
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with AutoCAD or similar design software
  • Familiarity with Alaska oil & gas operations
  • Basic knowledge of applicable industry codes and standards (NEC, ISA, API, etc.)

Physical Requirements:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. A pre-hire post offer Functional Capacity Evaluation (FCE) will be conducted to determine an employee's ability to perform to the job standard. Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

FCE Level 1

  • MOBILITY: Must be able to access all controls and all parts of machinery for service. Must be able to push/pull 20 pounds for 20 feet.
  • LIFTING: Must be able to routinely lift up to 20 pounds from floor to waist, 20 pounds from waist level to shoulder height and carry 20 pounds for 20 feet.
  • HEARING: Must be able to hear audible safety alarms.
  • VISUAL ACUITY: Must be adequate to perform above listed tasks in a safe manner and take hand signals from ground man or flag man.
  • RANGE OF MOTION: An objective range of motion measurements will be conducted and recorded using a five position and rapid exchange grip strength test during the pre-hire/post offer FCE.
