Description Crain’s Content Studio, the content marketing division of Crain’s Chicago Business, is seeking a creative, collaborative communications professional to lead the ideation, implementation and revenue growth of custom content campaigns for our business partners across a variety of platforms — from digital and print publishing to virtual and live events. This individual will be a strategic thinker and a compelling storyteller with a positive mindset and a record for producing engaging content. This person should have proven abilities to multitask, pivot and problem-solve: a typical day might include script-writing for a podcast, editing of a long-form story and brainstorming ideas with potential new partners, among other tasks. This position reports to the Senior Director of Custom in close collaboration with the Crain’s Chicago Business advertising team as well as the marketing, events, digital and research teams. This is a hybrid position with some in-person office meetings required. Responsibilities: Development of custom content proposals for prospective partners based on a deep understanding of their brand objectives Serve as managing editor for all content studio projects, managing a team of staff and contract writers, editors, designers, video/audio producers and graphic artists Work with Associate Publisher to establish and attain Content Studio revenue goals Work with marketing teams to promote Content Studio opportunities and drive readership to partner content Oversee development of project plans and implementation of deadlines Track and analyze campaign metrics to gauge best practices Evaluate trends in content marketing industry to bring new ideas to strategize and implement Basic Qualifications: Minimum of 5 years of experience working in a professional communications role managing content projects Flawless writing and editing skills Creativity Experience directing writers, video and audio producers, graphic artists, designers and photographers Portfolio with work samples demonstrating media storytelling in digital and print environments Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Marketing, Advertising or related field Preferences: Experience working in B to B publishing or media Advertising copywriting experience. Experience using campaign metrics to create and refine fully integrated content campaigns Event production experience (in person and virtual) Excel and PowerPoint proficiency. Knowledge of the Chicago business community This position is exempt under the Fair Labor Standards Act and is not eligible for overtime pay. Pay Transparency Disclosure: The estimated base salary range for this position is $65,000 to $100,000. This position is also eligible for an uncapped commission plan in addition to base salary. The final salary offering will take into account a wide range of specific and relevant factors, including experience, accomplishments and location. The salary range provided should not be considered as a salary limit or cap.
