As a Nursing Associate Extern, you will engage in a ten-week program, assisting caregivers in performing various care activities based on your identified skillsets and training. In this role, you may take vital signs and weights, help patients with personal care and initiate transfers/transportation. This is a regular PRN position, with caregivers working days between 12:00 a.m. -- 12:00 a.m. A caregiver who excels in this role will: Assist patients with tending to personal care, activities of daily living and transfers/transport. Report abnormal findings or changes in physical, mental and emotional conditions to RN. Assist with keeping patient rooms clean and orderly. If concurrently enrolled in a perspective school course, perform advanced skills, including medication administration and IV therapy under the direction of a preceptor. Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: Current enrollment in an accredited Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing (BSN) program with less than one year until graduation OR current enrollment in an accredited Associate’s Degree in Nursing (AND) program with less than two classes until graduation Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross Physical Requirements: Requires full body motion to move and lift patients, manual finger dexterity with good eye-hand coordination; involves extensive standing and walking. Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work. Personal Protective Equipment: Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
