In this role, the Field Technician will work as part of a project team under the direction of a Project Foreman, supporting the successful delivery of low-voltage and fiber optic installations. The ideal candidate will have a solid background in low-voltage systems, network infrastructure, and fiber optics. This position requires hands-on work with various tools and equipment to ensure the proper installation, splicing, maintenance, and troubleshooting of structured cabling and fiber optic systems. All work must comply with industry standards and safety regulations.
Duties:
- Perform “rough-in” of Inside Plant (ISP) low voltage communications cabling systems, including setup and installation of cable pathways and supports.
- Install, terminate, and test voice/data/video/sound and security cabling systems.
- Construct pathways, route cabling, and build out Telecommunications Rooms per project specifications and standards.
- Install and maintain fiber optic cabling infrastructure, including fiber splicing and termination using industry-standard methods.
- Perform cable placement and support system installation to meet all applicable codes and standards.
- Utilize testing equipment (e.g., multimeters, toners, continuity testers) to troubleshoot and verify cabling integrity.
- Accurately label, bond, and document all installed systems.
- Interpret and follow technical instructions, blueprints, and project documentation from the foreman or operations manager.
- Maintain clear and accurate documentation of work performed and materials used.
Requirements :
- Minimum 3 years of experience in fiber optic splicing, termination, and testing -Required
- Proven field experience in structured cabling and fiber optics installation
- Hands-on knowledge of industry tools and practices (e.g., fish tape, power drills, hand tools).
- Ability to terminate various modular connectors and splice all fiber types
- Capable of reading and interpreting blueprints and technical diagrams
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite / 365
- Strong problem-solving, organizational, and multitasking abilities
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- High level of professionalism and discretion in handling confidential information
- Ability to distinguish between colors (required for cable identification)
