This is a full time, hourly, skilled work position consisting of a range of clerical and operational duties. This position reports to the Department Manager and must be able to function with minimal supervision. The scale operator is responsible for helping to maintain the day-to-day operation and administrative duties associated with operation of the scale(s) and clerical functions. Operating the weigh scale, scale computer; software programs (AccPac & Main System), screening and recording incoming loads at the scale house, as well as directing vehicles entering and leaving the facility are some of the daily tasks. Requires a detail-oriented individual with positive attitude and ability to multitask. Including not limited to making collection calls, and/or cold calls, entering payables, etc..

Requirements:

- Create Bill of Ladings as requested per the plant manager.
- Update BOLs information: actual weight based on scale tickets, pricing, destination and hauler, commodity and hauler.
- Monitor open sales orders report on a weekly basis to ensure that all outbound loads for the week have been processed accordingly.
- Provide prompt and courteous service to our drivers.
- Ensures that trucks are properly positioned on scales for accurate weights
- Inspect loads and query drivers as required. Enter load information and customer/truck information into computer and operate computerized truck weight scale to determine weight of load.
- Enter data in to computer software for proper charges to be assigned for each load, and generate charge ticket on printer.
- Accurately perform routine data entry into a computer, make accurate basic mathematical calculations and accurately post and keep legible records.
- File weight tickets for each load, record and secure cash receipts.
- Maintain records of all incoming/outgoing loads that cross the scales.
- Check the information on the driver's paperwork to the information printed on the weight certificate to be certain that the information for all loads is accurate.
- Sort and process weight tickets for each day’s receipts before they are turned in to the office supervisor. Complete daily scale/receipt reports; maintain logs, spreadsheets and other reports.
- Assist in maintaining facility site security and access control.
- Maintains work area and equipment in a safe and clean condition at all times.
- Maintain all required records and reports accurately and timely.
- Attends work on continuous and regular basis.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Three years working in clerical position with computer literacy involving Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Word, Outlook) as well as other accounting software.
- Two years of data entry experience in fast paced, operations environment.
- Previous weight scale house operations experience highly desired.
- Must pass a background investigation and have authorization to work in the United States.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
- Ability to effectively plan, schedule and organize assigned work.
- Ability to speak and understand Spanish a plus.
- Required to use motor coordination with arm, hand, finger, and leg dexterity.
- Standing, walking (same level and stairs), stooping and bending part of the work day.
- Requires pushing, pulling, bending, twisting and lifting up to 50 lbs frequently.
- Will be exposed to a physical environment, which involves dirt, odors, noise or similar elements.
