Employment Services DSP - EES/EEO

Days/Hours of Position: 30 hours per week. The days of the week and the hours worked will be determined by the schedules of people being supported.

Weekend availability and flexible hours will be a requirement.

Primary Purpose

The person in this position will provide direct instructional support to individuals who are employed in the community by delivering curriculum-based lessons and community experiences to ensure additional career exploration, community building, employment retention, and ongoing skills building and maintenance. The person in this position will also support unemployed individuals who are exploring the world of work through community involvement and curriculum delivery. The person in this position will need to work flexible hours to support varying schedules of the individuals in the program, and that may include the weekend and evenings.

Essential Functions

  • Provide job upkeep and/or enhancement for individuals employed in the community, including but not limited to working toward certifications, upward mobility, identifying additional career opportunities, soft skills, and AT assessments.
  • Provide job maintenance support for individuals employed in the community, including but not limited to delivering curriculum-based lessons.
  • Provide job exploration opportunities and curriculum-based lessons to unemployed individuals.
  • Provide transportation for community experiences utilizing an ACCARC vehicle.
  • Maintain accurate and comprehensive data collection, including but not limited to daily data collection, reports, and attendance.
  • Attend, participate in, and provide information for Individual Plan (IP) meetings or any other meetings related to the assigned caseload.
  • Develop and maintain a cooperative relationship with a variety of community organizations, community venues, and businesses in order to provide meaningful opportunities for inclusion and/or job placements/volunteer opportunities.
  • Maintain regular contact and communication with the director/designee regarding individuals, concerns, and updates.

Other Related Responsibilities

  • Maintain good daily attendance (days of absence and illness)
  • Cooperative, versatile, and works as a team member.
  • Ability to work responsibly when working alone.
  • Maintain all annual trainings/certifications.
  • Complete all other tasks as assigned by the director of the department.

Education And/or Work Experience Requirements

  • High School Diploma / GED
  • Minimum of 1 year experience working with individuals with disabilities
  • Must have a valid driver's license and be insurable with the agency carrier.
  • Must complete the Agency’s Employee Training
  • Certification and training, including but not limited to customized employment, CPR, first aid, PMT (Psychological/Physical Management Training), and DDS medication administration.
  • Experience with Microsoft products, use of email, and Therap preferred.

Physical Requirements

  • Persons in this job must possess the physical and emotional health needed for effective and efficient completion of duties. Must possess the ability to walk, stand, or be seated for more than 4 hours at a time; stoop, twist, and/or bend at the waist; lift above the head; and lift more than 50 lbs. when necessary. Must be able to work indoors and out and/or in hot or cold and slippery conditions safely.
