We are seeking a motivated, analytical, and detail-oriented professional to join our Richmond, VA office as a Credit & Portfolio Analyst. This role offers a unique opportunity to gain broad exposure to commercial credit underwriting, contract administration, portfolio management, collections, compliance, and risk management within a dynamic financial services environment.


Position Summary

The Credit & Portfolio Analyst supports the full lifecycle of commercial finance transactions, from prospect evaluation and credit underwriting through documentation, portfolio monitoring, collections, and compliance The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, sound business judgment, excellent communication abilities, and a desire to build a career in commercial finance and risk management.


Key Responsibilities

Credit Underwriting & Financial Analysis

  • Assist in the credit underwriting process, including reviewing and evaluating financing requests
  • Gather, organize, and analyze financial statements, tax returns, credit reports, and supporting documentation
  • Support senior credit personnel in analyzing more complex credit opportunities and structuring transactions
  • Prepare credit summaries, risk assessments, and underwriting recommendations
  • Participate in credit approval and portfolio review processes


Transaction Documentation & Funding Support

  • Review lease agreements and related transaction documents for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with company requirements
  • Coordinate documentation requirements with internal teams, vendors, and customers
  • Assist with negotiating routine lease agreement provisions and transaction terms
  • Facilitate the timely delivery and execution of customer documentation


Portfolio Management & Collections

  • Support collection efforts on delinquent accounts through customer outreach and follow-up communications
  • Prepare demand letters and maintain documentation related to collection activities
  • Assist with workout arrangements and payment resolution negotiations
  • Coordinate with outside counsel regarding litigation matters when necessary
  • Support equipment recovery efforts and monitor customer bankruptcy proceedings
  • Maintain accurate records of account activity and collection status


Compliance & Risk Management

  • Conduct compliance reviews to ensure completion of sanctions screening, Know Your Customer (KYC) requirements, and other regulatory obligations
  • Assist in maintaining adherence to company policies and applicable regulations
  • Identify and escalate potential compliance concerns or risk issues
  • Support internal audits and compliance reporting initiatives


Prospect Due Diligence & Sales Support

  • Conduct due diligence reviews on prospective customers
  • Perform credit pre-screening activities and assess initial creditworthiness
  • Complete Uniform Commercial Code (UCC) searches and public records research
  • Provide relevant findings and recommendations to the sales and credit teams
  • Support business development efforts by helping identify potential credit or risk concerns early in the sales process


Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field
  • 1-3 years of experience in commercial finance, banking, credit analysis, underwriting, leasing, collections, or a related financial services role preferred
  • Strong financial statement analysis and analytical problem-solving skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
  • High level of accuracy, attention to detail, and professionalism


Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in equipment finance, commercial lending, leasing, or asset-based finance
  • Familiarity with commercial credit underwriting principles and financial statement analysis
  • Knowledge of UCC filings, commercial loan documentation, collections, bankruptcy processes, or workout arrangements
  • Understanding of KYC, sanctions screening, and regulatory compliance requirements
  • Experience using credit reporting and financial analysis tools

Compensation & Benefits

Salary Range: $60,000 – $80,000

The expected salary range for this position is $60,000 to $80,000 annually. Individual compensation will be based on relevant experience, qualifications, and market considerations.
