WBZ-TV/CBS News Boston has an immediate opening for a Freelance Reporter/Multi-Skilled Journalist (MSJ). Required Skills / Experience:
- Report live and taped segments, both scripted and unscripted, clearly and accurately.
- Independently gather facts, video, and interviews; manage multiple live shots per shift.
- Write compelling broadcast scripts and engaging digital content.
- Edit video efficiently in Avid
- Post timely updates on WBZ.com, CBS News Boston streaming, and social media.
- Collaborate closely with assignment editors, producers, and photographers.
- Commit unwaveringly to accuracy, fairness, and high ethical standards.
- Minimum 3 years of on-air reporting/MSJ experience in a medium-to-large market.
- Proven field shooting and editing skills.
- Strong news judgment, deadline discipline, and ability to work independently.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Availability for early mornings, nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Willingness to join SAG-AFTRA as required.
- College degree or equivalent professional experience.
- Daily freelance rate commensurate with experience, governed by applicable collective bargaining agreements.
