Overview
We are seeking an energetic and strategic Head of Business Development to drive firm‑wide growth through strong execution, people leadership, and strategic business development. This role leads the Insurance Specialist team, expands relationships with high‑quality advisory firms, and partners closely with executive leadership to turn strategy into results. Success in this role is defined by improved sales execution, deeper advisor and firm engagement, and the addition of new, high‑quality RIA relationships
This is not an individual contributor role. The focus is on leadership, coaching, process discipline, and growth strategy.
Responsibilities
- Own the day‑to‑day leadership of the Insurance Specialist team
- Lead weekly pipeline and activity reviews across quoting, applications, placement, and case quality
- Improve execution, case design, and advisor engagement across assigned accounts
- Partner with leadership on hiring, onboarding, performance management, and territory assignments
- Coach and develop specialists through training, ride‑alongs, and practical playbooks
- Hold team members accountable to business plans and execution standards
- Attract new RIA relationships and deepen existing firm partnerships
- Position the CBS value story with prospective firms and advance opportunities to leadership close
- Target the addition of one large, high‑quality RIA relationship per quarter
- Increase advisor participation, case volume, and product mix within existing accounts
- Lead strategic planning for key accounts, including executive outreach, joint calls, and roadshows
- Leverage conferences, referrals, and outbound efforts with strong preparation and follow‑up
- Serve as a senior liaison between Insurance Specialists, advanced sales, marketing, and leadership
- Translate growth strategy into clear execution across teams
- Partner with marketing on advisor‑facing initiatives, messaging, and conference strategy
- Collaborate with advanced planning on complex cases and escalations
- Participate as a member of the CBS Brokerage leadership team
Experience
- 3 years of experience as a life or annuity wholesaler or similar senior insurance role
- Strong technical insurance knowledge and case design expertise (Life, Annuity, LTC and Disability)
- Proven ability to lead, coach, and manage professionals
- Experience working directly with financial advisors and senior firm leadership
- Strong executive presence and communication skills
- Experience working at a brokerage general agency (BGA)
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.

- Life and Health License
Competitive Compensation: this role also has the opportunity to receive bonus based on the company's annual performance.
Pay: $130,000.00 - $150,000.00 per year
