Business Intelligence Consultant

About The Role:

The Business Intelligence Consultant - Advanced Analytics, AI & Automation is responsible for extending the organization’s business intelligence capabilities beyond traditional reporting through applied advanced analytics, AI‑assisted insights, and intelligent automation.

This role owns the “what’s next” of BI - prototyping, building, and scaling solutions that reduce manual effort, accelerate insight delivery, and embed intelligence directly into business workflows using modern tools such as LLMs, AI services, and the Microsoft Power Platform.

This position is not a data engineering role and not a BI strategy role. It is a solution‑oriented analytics role focused on turning emerging capabilities into practical, scalable BI assets in close partnership with BI Strategy, Enablement & Governance and BI Engineering & Data Foundations.

What You’ll Do:

Advanced Analytics & Insight Development

  • Develop analytical solutions that go beyond standard dashboards (e.g., pattern detection, forecasting, scenario modeling, text analysis)
  • Translate complex data and analytical outputs into actionable, decision‑ready insights
  • Identify opportunities where analytics can proactively surface risks, opportunities, or anomalies rather than relying on manual review

AI & LLM Enablement

Apply AI and LLM capabilities to BI use cases, including:

  • Natural language querying and insight explanation
  • Automated commentary and narrative generation
  • Text classification, summarization, or sentiment analysis (where appropriate)
  • Prototype and iterate on AI‑enabled analytics solutions prior to scale or operationalization
  • Partner with governance and engineering to ensure AI solutions are responsible, secure, and aligned with organizational standards

Automation & Power Platform Solutions

Design and build automation solutions using Power Automate to:

  • Reduce manual reporting and data handling
  • Trigger workflows based on data conditions or thresholds
  • Support BI operating cadences and management system routines
  • Develop Power Apps that surface insights, collect inputs, or streamline BI‑connected processes
  • Integrate Power Platform solutions with Power BI datasets and governed enterprise data sources

BI Solution Development

  • Build targeted analytical tools, models, and applications that complement enterprise dashboards
  • Create reusable components, templates, and accelerators for analytics and automation cases
  • Ensure solutions align with enterprise KPI definitions and governed data models
  • Continuous Improvement & Innovation

Stay current on emerging BI, AI, and automation capabilities within the Microsoft ecosystem

Identify opportunities to simplify, automate, or enhance existing BI and analytics processes

Experiment responsibly and share learnings with the broader BI team

  • Decision workflows and adoption expectations

Engineering & Data Foundations owns:

  • Data availability, reliability, and scalability
  • Platform standards and operationalization

Collaboration occurs at:

  • Use case identification
  • Prototype validation

Transition of solutions into supported, scalable assets

What You’ll Need:

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in business intelligence, analytics, data analysis, or a related role
  • Experience developing analytical solutions beyond standard reporting and dashboards
  • Working knowledge of AI and LLM capabilities as applied to analytics and decision support
  • Experience prototyping AI‑assisted or automation‑enabled analytics solutions
  • Hands‑on experience with Power BI and the Microsoft Power Platform (Power Automate, Power Apps)
  • Strong analytical thinking with the ability to translate ambiguous business questions into practical solutions
  • Understanding of responsible AI concepts, including data privacy, security, and explainability
  • Collaborative, solution‑oriented mindset with comfort operating in evolving environments
