We are seeking an experienced Legal Secretary to provide comprehensive administrative and legal support to multiple attorneys in a fast-paced legal environment. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in probate law, a strong understanding of Texas probate filing procedures, exceptional organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining accuracy and professionalism.
Key Responsibilities
- Draft, edit, proofread, and prepare legal correspondence, pleadings, and court filings
- File legal documents electronically with state and federal courts
- Maintain attorney calendars, schedule meetings, and coordinate appointments
- Open new client files and matters, including conducting conflict checks
- Organize and maintain both physical and electronic client files
- Enter attorney time accurately into the firm's billing system
- Transcribe dictation and prepare legal documents
- Communicate professionally with clients, courts, and outside parties
- Assist with billing, administrative tasks, and day-to-day attorney support
- Prioritize and manage assignments for multiple attorneys while meeting deadlines
Qualifications
- Minimum of four (4) years of recent experience as a Legal Secretary
- Experience with electronic court filing (e-filing) systems
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and legal document management systems
- Excellent grammar, proofreading, and written communication skills
- Strong organizational, time management, and multitasking abilities
- Exceptional attention to detail and ability to work independently in a deadline-driven environment
- Ability to effectively support multiple attorneys and manage competing priorities
- Excellent interpersonal and client service skills
