Unit Director / Supervisor – Mental Health Services
A nonprofit mental health organization is seeking an experienced Unit Director/Supervisor to oversee services for adults with severe and persistent mental illness in a community-based residential program.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise, train, and support case management/counseling staff.
- Oversee rehabilitative and case management services using person-centered recovery principles.
- Provide individual and group counseling as needed.
- Coordinate services with outpatient mental health clinics, hospitals, physicians, families, and other providers.
- Oversee service plans, psychosocial documentation, discharge planning, and client records.
- Provide crisis-management oversight and participate in an on-call rotation.
- Ensure program compliance with New York State Office of Mental Health (OMH) requirements.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Services or Master’s degree in Social Work or a related field.
- Must meet Qualified Mental Health Professional (QMHP) requirements.
- Master’s degree plus 1 year of related experience OR bachelor’s degree plus 3 years of related experience.
- Supervisory experience preferred.
- Strong background working with individuals with serious mental illness in a behavioral health, residential, or community-based setting.
