CBIZ Talent Solutions is assisting our client in their search for a Project Accountant in Manhattan. This is an exciting opportunity to join a growing family office with a large real estate and development portfolio.
Position Summary:
The Project/Development Accountant will lead the financial accounting, reporting, and cost management of development projects from the ground through completion.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee the full-cycle accounting for development projects; maintain job cost records.
- Prepare and maintain draw packages for financing, lenders, investors, and internal teams.
- Prepare project financial reports, including budget-to-actual analyses, forecasts, and cash flow projections.
- Support quarterly and year-end reporting requirements for investors and lenders.
- Assist with financial models
- Audit and tax processes for each project.
- Review budget changes, change orders, and cost-to-complete projections with development and construction managers
- Maintain compliance
- Develop best practices and implement process improvements
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required; CPA or CPA-track preferred.
- 7 years of relevant experience in real estate development project accounting.
- Strong understanding of real estate project lifecycles, including development budgets, financing, and cost tracking.
- Proficiency in job cost accounting systems (e.g., Yardi, Timberline/Sage 300, or similar) and advanced Excel/modeling skills
- Advanced Excel skills; experience with project reporting and financial modeling tools a plus.
- Knowledge of percentage of completion preferred.
Salary range, DOE: $160-$200K.
