This role will be responsible for managing day-to-day accounting activities for a portfolio of residential properties, ensuring accurate financial reporting and compliance. Experience with HUD or low-income housing programs is a strong plus.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
- Perform bank and account reconciliations
- Manage full-cycle month-end close processes
- Analyze financial results and perform variance analysis
- Maintain general ledger integrity and supporting schedules
- Assist with audit preparation and respond to auditor inquiries
- Ensure compliance with internal controls and regulatory requirements (including HUD, where applicable)
- Collaborate with property management teams to resolve accounting issues
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- 2 years of accounting experience (property or real estate industry preferred)
- Experience with residential property accounting strongly preferred
- Familiarity with HUD or affordable housing programs is a plus
- Proficiency in advanced Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, formulas)
- Experience with property management/accounting systems such as Yardi, RealPage, MRI, or similar
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
