Job Overview:
The Brake Operator is responsible for setting up and operating press brake machines to bend, form, and shape metal components according to specifications. You’ll be working with LVD laser cutters, press brakes, and metal saws to cut and shape parts with precision. This role is critical to ensure precision, quality, and efficiency in the fabrication process while maintaining a safe and organized work environment.
Key Responsibilities
· Operate LVD laser cutting machines, press brakes, and saws for metal parts.
- Set up and operate press brake machines to bend and form metal parts based on blueprints, drawings, and work orders.
- Read and interpret technical drawings, specifications, and bend schedules.
- Select appropriate tooling, die, and machine settings for each job.
- Measure and inspect finished parts using calipers, gauges, and tape measures to ensure accuracy and quality standards are met.
- Adjust machine settings as needed to maintain tolerance and correct defects.
- Perform routine machine maintenance, including cleaning, lubrication, and minor troubleshooting.
- Maintain proper material handling, including staging, moving, and organizing raw and finished materials.
- Accurately record production data and job completion in ERP or tracking systems.
- Work collaboratively with welding, machining, and fabrication teams to meet production schedules.
Safety & Quality
- Follow all safety procedures, including proper use of PPE and machine guarding requirements.
- Adhere to OSHA standards and company safety policies to maintain a safe work environment.
- Ensure all parts meet quality standards and specifications before moving to the next stage of production.
- Report any safety hazards, equipment issues, or quality concerns promptly.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Previous experience operating press brake machinery (LVD) in a manufacturing environment preferred.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
- Strong understanding of measuring tools (calipers, micrometers, tape measures).
- Basic math skills, including fractions and decimals.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
