Working in this team, no two days are the same. This role reports to the Executive General Manager, Group Secretariat & Group Company Secretary. Do Work That Matters As a Senior Governance Advisor, you will work on: Governance advisory— Advise on a variety of corporate governance projects and matters including policies, procedures, manuals, templates and corporate reporting. Drive continuous improvement — Support initiatives that advance global best practice in corporate governance, risk and compliance. Directors and Company Secretaries — Advise and assist the Group's Directors and Company Secretaries in the discharge of their statutory duties and governance obligations. Board and Committee operations — Support the Group Secretariat team to ensure the smooth running of CBA Board and Committee meetings and decision-making, including preparing agendas, forward planners and related meeting documents. Navigate the regulatory landscape — Advise on corporate governance practices and provide (non-legal) guidance on relevant aspects of the Corporations Act, APRA Prudential Standards and other regulatory requirements. Build and manage key relationships — Manage relationships with internal stakeholders and support the Group Company Secretary in liaising with external stakeholders, positioning yourself as a trusted and valued adviser. Strengthen risk and controls — Support the testing and performance of risk controls mapped to the Group Secretariat team. Deliver insights and reporting — Deliver insights and respond to stakeholder requests, enabling informed decision-making. Support broader team operations — Assist the Group Company Secretary by undertaking such additional activities, as required. We're Interested in Hearing from People Who Have A Graduate Diploma of Applied Corporate Governance (GIA) and a minimum of five years' experience as a company secretary working in a complex environment (essential). A law degree and experience in a legal role advising on governance and corporate advisory matters is also highly regarded. Strong organisational skills, including the ability to plan, prioritise, meet deadlines, solve problems and make critical business judgements. A curious and agile mindset — you bring a solutions-oriented approach, discretion, flexibility, a growth mindset and strong leadership capability. A collaborative and independent working style — you thrive as part of a team and are equally effective working autonomously in accordance with relevant CBA and departmental procedures. Excellent communication and influencing skills — outstanding written and verbal communication, strong stakeholder engagement and the ability to build rapport at all levels across the organisation.
