Senior Associate – Fixed Income, Commodities & Derivatives Settlements 12 month contract / secondment opportunity - View to perm Location: Sydney Do Work That Matters CommBank’s Market Operations team is looking for a Senior Associate to join the Global Markets Operations function within the Derivatives and Securities Operations team. This team provides real-time operational support to Global trading desks, working across time zones to support our trading desks and valued clients. You will play a key role in supporting the Markets and Treasury business, applying strong product knowledge to identify and resolve settlement and operational issues, ensuring high-quality service delivery. The Role You will provide operational support across Fixed Income and Derivatives products, managing settlements and trade lifecycle events while partnering closely with Sales and Trading teams. This includes handling funding requirements, resolving exceptions, and ensuring timely and accurate processing across global markets activity. On any given day you will: Process settlement and funding of Fixed Income products including Corporate and Government Bonds, Discount Securities, NCDs, FRNs, CP/CDs, MTNs and Asset-Backed Securities Support Derivatives settlements including Interest Rate Swaps, Cross Currency Swaps, Credit Default Swaps and OTC Options Manage Securities Financing transactions, Triparty Repo and Collateral Perform rate fixing activities using systems such as Bloomberg and Reuters Perform manual SWIFT entries, payments, and fee calculations Actively follow up and resolve unsettled transactions Liaise with stakeholders including Sales & Trading, Correspondent Banks, Clearstream, Austraclear, NZClear and ASX Provide reporting and insights to support operational requirements Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives Maintain and update procedures aligning with internal and industry standards We’re interested in hearing from people who will: Experience within Markets or Markets Operations in a large banking environment Strong knowledge of Fixed Income, Derivatives and Treasury products Understanding of Securities Financing transactions Experience managing trade lifecycle events Strong SWIFT knowledge Murex experience (highly regarded) Experience with Bloomberg, Reuters and custody platforms Strong attention to detail and ability to manage competing priorities Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills Proactive risk mindset From here, the opportunities are endless At CommBank, we are committed to improving the financial wellbeing of our customers and communities.
