JOB SUMMARY:
Title: Working Foreman
Department: Construction Management
Reports To: Senior Construction Manager
Location: Northern & Central New Jersey
CB Construction is seeking a Working Foreman who embodies what it means to be a builder—someone who can both lead in the field and execute the work. This role requires a hands-on professional with strong field leadership, technical construction knowledge, and craftsmanship across multiple finish trades.
The Working Foreman is responsible for driving day-to-day field operations while also performing critical scope where appropriate, ensuring the project is delivered with high quality, disciplined execution, and respect for schedule, safety, and budget.
Key Responsibilities
Field Leadership & Execution
· Lead daily field operations as the on-site working leader
· Perform and oversee finish trade work, including:
o Insulation
o Drywall
o Painting
o Tile
o Finish carpentry
o Flooring
· Set the tone for work ethic, craftsmanship, and accountability
Quality, Schedule, & Safety
· Ensure all work meets CB Construction’s standards for quality and durability
· Maintain and drive adherence to the project schedule and sequencing
· Enforce and lead jobsite safety practices, including daily awareness and compliance
· Identify and proactively resolve field issues before they impact progress
Constructability & Problem Solving
· Apply practical knowledge across all facets of construction to:
o Identify constructability challenges
o Recommend solutions
o Coordinate with project management and trade partners
· “Figure it out” in the field with a solutions-first mindset
Coordination & Logistics
· Plan and manage daily and weekly logistics, including:
o Material deliveries
o Trade stacking and sequencing
o Site access and workflow
· Coordinate effectively with subcontractors, vendors, and CB team members
· Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient jobsite
EDUCATION & QUALIFICATIONS:
- 5 years of hands-on experience in commercial construction
- Demonstrated experience across multiple finish trades
- Proven ability to lead while working (not just supervise)
- Strong understanding of construction sequencing and logistics
- Working knowledge of safety practices and compliance
- High school diploma or equivalent; formal training or certification in carpentry or a related field is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of carpentry means and methods. Working knowledge of other trades such as mechanical, electrical, and plumbing.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and building plans.
- Experience working in commercial and occupied environments.
- Good problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Ability to work independently.
- Ability to lift and carry heavy materials and equipment.
- Ability to work off hours and Saturdays as required. Standard work week is Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. until 4 p.m.
- Adept w/ basic Microsoft 365 suite of products and computer functions.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- This position requires lifting up to 50 lbs, bending, stooping, and working in confined spaces and the regular use of hand and power tools.
- Basic tools to be provided by Carpenter. Supplemental tools and equipment provided by company.
SCREENING REQUIREMENTS:
As part of your employment with CB Construction Management an initial pre-employment drug tests and criminal checks are required. There are annual, random drug tests as a condition of employment. CB Construction Management prohibits employees from being under the influence of substances such as drugs or alcohol during work hours. CB Construction Management is dedicated to the safety of all individuals in our offices and job sites.
COMPENSATION PACKAGE:
- $60k-65k (range, depending on qualifications) annually, paid on a bi-weekly basis.
- Ability for stock ownership participation after one (1) year of continuous service.
- Profit sharing up to 5% of annual wages based upon individual annual goal(s) achievement and performance.
- Work van and fuel provided by company.
- $1,000.00 annual stipend for tool(s) repairs and/or replacement.
- 10 days annually of paid time off (PTO).
- 10 paid holidays annually.
